Funding Process
Interested in applying for a TGIF grant? Follow the steps below. Here is an infographic you can also follow!
1. Am I eligible to apply?
I am a UCLA student, staff member, or faculty member (can be applying on behalf of an organization).
2. Does my project meet the requirements to apply to TGIF?
The project promotes environmental sustainability on UCLA's campus in accordance with our guiding principles.
UCLA Single-Use Plastic Policy Implementation Guide. Check out page 23 for information on promotional products.
Green Events Certification Guide. Check out page 11 for information on commemorative products.
The project has a clearly-defined, measurable outcome.
The project has a mechanism for evaluation and follow-up after funding has been disbursed.
3. The application process and expected timeline.
When creating your budget, reference this sample budget.
TGIF Main Fund (requesting $10,000 or less)
Fill out an application before the deadline.
Check your email! You may be asked follow-up questions, given suggestions on components to implement, or be asked to attend a hearing. Review of your application will be paused until we receive a response!
Funding closes Friday of weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8 each quarter. If you miss a deadline, your application will be considered in the next funding round. No funding is awarded during the summer.
Capital/Infrastructure Projects (requesting more than $10,000)
Fill out an application (accepted on a rolling basis).
If funded, you will schedule quarterly meetings with the Grant Coordinator.
Funding closes Friday of Week 8 Spring Quarter. If you miss this deadline, you must wait until the next academic year. No funding is awarded during the summer.
4. Ready to access funding allocation?
Grant Agreement
Read through the Grant Agreement thoroughly and note your account number.
Return the signed form to tgif@asucla.ucla.edu.
Requisition Form
Fill out a requisition (req) form.
Need help? See the step-by-step tutorial.
Submit it to the TGIF Grant Coordinator via email.
Make sure to attach your req form and supporting documentation.
If there is a problem with your form, we will contact you directly.
Check the Student Government Accounting (SGA) Check Register frequently to see if your funding is available.
Accessing Funds Through the Requisition Form
Once your name appears on the SGA Check Register, your funds are available!
Wait for the check to be sent to you.
5. Don't forget your project impact report!
After you have spent your funds to complete your project, you must fill out our project impact report.
This report helps provide feedback to TGIF and provides content for us to highlight previously funded projects on our website and social media. If you don’t fill out this form, we will not fund future applications from your organization until we receive the report.
