TGIF Application Process

TGIF Funding Procedures

The TGIF application process includes the submission of a completed application, and attendance at the TGIF hearings.

Applications must be turned in by the funding deadline listed on the Calendar page. Projects shall have received all necessary written approval by appropriate campus officials prior to consideration.

Each applicant is required to schedule a hearing time with the TGIF coordinator, Patty Zimmerman, at pzimmerman@asucla.ucla.edu. TGIF committee will hold hearings for this funding cycle the first and second week of Spring Quarter. Funding proposals are due at this time. Also, this is an opportunity for applicants to further elaborate on their needs and project goals to the committee.

The TGIF Committee Scoresheet can be found at the following link for applicants to view how their applications will be scored.

Applicant Eligibility

Project proposals may be submitted by UCLA students, staff, and faculty. Individuals and organizations outside of UCLA may not submit proposals. It is highly encouraged for the projects to be student initiated and must have undergraduate student involvement.

Criteria for Projects

  • Projects must promote environmental sustainability on UCLA’s campus. This includes off-campus projects which influence sustainability on-campus.
  • Projects must have a clearly-defined, measurable outcome.
  • TGIF funding will not support projects already mandated by law or UCLA policy directive (e.g., standards for new building construction), since UCLA is already obliged to allocate funds for such projects. TGIF will fund projects which go above and beyond minimum requirements.
  • All projects shall have a mechanism for evaluation and follow-up after funding has been dispersed. At minimum, a project plan must include a report made to the Grant-making Committee after successful (or unsuccessful) implementation. If a project is expected to have on-going benefits such as annual cost savings, the project plan must include a mechanism for tracking, recording, and reporting these benefits back to the Grant-making Committee on an (at least) annual basis.
